ABOUT
This technology report explores the changes in humans, driven by technology and tools. Technology, motivated often by convenience, makes possible what humans previously could not do. Tools transform the lives of humans to create a new norm, but in turn are also changing what it means to be human. From tools that feel like an extension of the human body such as cars, to tools that are created to be wearable to the human form such as protective clothing or airpods.
COVERING
Tools influence the way we co-exist with one another, from face-to-face conversation, to connections communicated through a single image or avatar.
COVERING
Tools have focussed on replacing or enhancing visual, auditory or mobility elements of the human body, but we see a shift towards tools harnessing sensing technology to create a new intimate form of presence.
COVERING
Emerging technologies have the potential to radically transform our human perspective, in some ways negatively and in many ways positively. Caution is needed to consider responsible design and application of technology and tools to augment human beings.
